They’re strange looking, a bit similar to those spectacles that kids used to have back in the day with eyes drawn on them. If you’ve ever had trouble with maintaining a pleasant face or you had people ask you why you are upset, when you’re merely busy or if you’re working with customers and you find it difficult to keep a happy face then AgencyGlass is for you.
AgencyGlass – Digital Eyes are Exactly what the World Needed
Tsukuba University in Japan is where doctor Hirotaka Osawa has developed the device that is meant to help with people with what is called emotional labor. If the term puzzles you, you’re not the only one, but don’t laugh, as he might be on to something.
The wearable device, the glasses, display eyeballs on their lenses and adopt cyborg technology so that the emotional comfort of those around us doesn’t suffer because of your reactions. Let’s say that you’re a waiter and it’s late in the evening and your shift is about to end. You’re tired and during your last order you can’t find it in yourself to smile or pretend you’re not tired. The glasses will do that for you so that the people around you don’t feel bad. So, AgencyGlass will make it look as if you’re friendly and nice, when you’re too tired or busy to look as if you’re friendly and nice.
Osawa believes that his glasses will reduce the cognitive load for social manners. Speaking like a true antisocial chap, Osawa believes that with the AgencyGlass, one would not be fooling those around them. He believes that any type of sunglasses will hide your eyes and thus hiding your emotions.
Integrating cyborg technology into our lives isn’t something new, we’ve done bionic arms and exoskeletons, but sometimes you just wonder about some things and if they’re worth it.
What are your thoughts of the AgencyGlass? Do you believe that the creator is on to something or should he just give up and return to the drawing board? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.
