Most of us would have heard about the rumored Amazon smartphone at least once. While most of the news appeared to be rumors we are now told that the gadget has been in development for a while. Nonetheless, rumor mills never stop spinning and the latest rumors regarding the Amazon smartphone is related to its release date. Kind of strange to discuss release dates of a device that hasn’t even been announced right?
Sources have confirmed though that Amazon is presently working on 2 smartphones. One of these phones is also reported to have a 3D display. The first thing you would probably think of when we mention 3D display is the HTC Evo 3D. But, the technology being used by Amazon is supposed to be very different. It is supposed to be something we have never seen before. The prototype is supposed to use an eye-tracker to create 3D content which is quite like a hologram which will float above the screen of the handset. It is supposed to be visible from all angles as well.
Although this may sound quite exciting, it is pretty unbelievable. We don’t feel this is going to be happening anytime soon. The main reason for this opinion is because Amazon hasn’t really established itself as a smartphone manufacturer yet. It is highly unlikely they would take such a big step when entering the market. They will most probably come out with a cheap handset somewhat similar to the Kindle.
Also, rumors related to holographic images on smartphones have been around for quite a while now. While we can hope for it sometime in the future, as of now, there are no indications coming from anywhere. So, if you had to place a bet on whether or not the above rumor is true, we strongly suggest you bet against it.
