Andy Rubin, the co-founder of Android, is bound to develop an iPhone competitor. If it weren’t for him, the market of smartphones would look a lot more different now. Back in 2005, he co-founded Android before Google acquired it. Google’s mobile OS transformed into an alternative to iOS due to Rubin’s help. Because Rubin knew in what direction to steer Android, he only brought success. Thus OS mobile became the most frequent one in the world.
Back in 2014, Rubin decided to leave Google. Some may have said that Rubin was out of the public eye because he was trying to develop his company. Nevertheless, there were just rumors which were never confirmed. But, apparently, now experts in the field argued that the smartphone project of Rubin is real and incredibly ambitious.
Rubin is still working to release a revolutionary device, a high-end technology based on AI being bound to be an iPhone competitor, but also a first-class Android handset, like Google Pixel. The new company of Rubin was named Essentials. Based on a report, for the moment, the company is formed out of 40 people. Besides wanting to launch a new smartphone, the company is working on building a broad range of other AI devices.
Essential is a platform enterprise built to tie together many products. Rubin’s company is currently working on developing a set of consumer hardware devices, including some products meant to boost the smart home and mobile markets. The most significant piece of the puzzle is the development of a high-end smartphone expected to surpass the performance of any other smartphone and revolutionize the world of technology.
The new device will have an edge-to-edge screen which is not equipped with a surrounding casing. In early January, during the Consumer Electronics Show which took part in Las Vegas, Rubin has discussed the new smartphone with mobile carrier executives. There were only people familiar with technology and smartphone development, including representatives from Sprint Corp.
Essential is currently working on its prototype for the new smartphone. Rumor has it that its screen may be larger than the one of the iPhone 7 Plus’ which is outfitted with a 5.5-inch display. Nevertheless, the new mobile phone will sport a smaller footprint due to its edge-to-edge design.
