Earlier this week, Blizzard revealed that it will be releasing an Overwatch PTR patch. This is the second game update in less than a month. Earlier in March, the company revealed that it was releasing Orisa, a new hero.
The Overwatch PTR Patch Will Be Testing Lucio Updates
This new patch revealed on Friday should already be up and available for testing. In order to access it, users would have to be part of the PTR. This is the Public Testing Region. In its patch announcement, Blizzard offered details about the PTR. It explained how players could access and register with the program.
The Overwatch PTR patch is still in development. However, the company already revealed some of its major changes. Most of them will be targeting Lucio. It will also be changing the Assault and Assault/Escort maps. Their story line in Competitive Play mode will be seeing some modifications. Blizzard will also come with some smaller tweaks and arrangements to the game.
According to Blizzard, the Assault and Assault/Escort changes are based on user feedback. These are said to have reported an abundance of draws. As such, the developer will be adding a new tracking system. This will help keep tabs on each of the team and their progress in achieving the mission’s objective.
The new tracking system will work similarly to the current program. However, it will see some changes in case of a draw. If neither team reaches its objective, a winner will still be determined. This will be chosen based on who managed to capture the point’s largest portion.
Lucio Will Be Seeing Some Significant Changes In The Overwatch PTR Patch
According to Blizzard, Lucio came to be considered a “must-pick” as it offers an advantage to the entire team. He provides a speed bonus for everyone and also comes with a raw healing output.
The company states that “The end result [of the changes] is that he should feel stronger with teams that he can stay close to but not as strong on teams with heroes that are often spread out.”.
Lucio’s patch changes will come with both updates and bug fixes. For example, his Sonic Amplifier projectiles speed saw an increase. His healing ability and speed boost were also raised. But Lucio’s abilities area-of-effect radius saw a decrease.
Besides the major updates, the Overwatch PTR Patch will see some smaller tweaks as well. For example, Blizzard added unique backstory details for all the Hello Gallery characters. It also included a new route to Eichenwalde. Users will also be able to save their Custom Game settings. Various other bugs should have been fixed as well.
For the moment, Blizzard has yet to announce when the PTR patch will go live. Most expect it to become available in a few weeks time.
