We’ve done it at least once in our lives, the exhibitionist habit of flashing someone. Whether we’ve done it to impress our beloved or to puzzle a stranger, the concept is familiar to most of us. Recent reports have stated that an upgraded, contemporary version of flashing is spreading in cyber territories. Strangers can now send online pictures to strangers, exposing their naughty bits to the scandalized surprise of others.
The British Transport Police currently investigates what is known as the first ever reported case of cyber flashing. As recent declarations reveal, a 34 year old iPhone user has received a batch of sexually explicit images during a recent train ride in South London.
The scandalous view coming from the preview window of her mobile phone was sufficient for the lady to decline the incoming message. But the surprising event didn’t stop there, as another picture followed, moment when she realized that there must be someone in the area who could have sent the message. Although the incident was reported to authorities, there wasn’t much they could do, as she refused to accept all the controversial messages.
We know that as the world evolves, people become ill with technology and translate highly indecent habits that die hard, on online platforms, handsets, tablets, laptops and everything else that allows access to the internet. Adulthood is far from danger, as we are able to decline all the sickness that happens around the online territories but children may be exposed to such attacks that are unwelcomed.
Currently, the transport police are investigating the reported crime and have at the same time released an announcement, asking all users who suffer from similar attacks to come forward and offer further details in order to take relevant action on the matter. For the time being, this is the only case reported to officials from the police but if it happened once, it will most likely happen the second time as well. Cyber flashing must be stopped, before it spreads to all environments where children may have access.
Sexual harassment is a very delicate and actual issue in our modern times and it seems to be very far away from vanishing, as it continues to spread in various forms on both online and offline grounds. We surely hope that all individuals who commit this crime will be punished or at least benefit from a decent degree of psychiatric treatment.
