CES 2017 saw the release of the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, a convertible variant with new features of the previous XPS 13 model released during CES 2015.
Dell Technologies is an information technology corporation. It was formed in 2016 through the merger of the former Dell Inc. and EMC Corporation. The multinational is based in Round Rock, Texas. It is specialized in various technological industry areas. These include the personal computer, computer software, and server domains, amongst others.
During CES 2017, the company went to reveal several products. The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is one such device. It was a quite expected for reveal. The current product is an updated and upgraded version of a former model. Back in 2015, Dell released the XPS 13, also during CES.
The initial model was held as an innovation. As such, the current model has quite some shoes to fill. Still, it will be offering new options. One of the biggest differences can be noted from the name.
Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 will be a convertible device. As such, it has multiple utilizations. It can either be kept as a traditional laptop. Or it could be transformed into a tablet. Its keyboard system is foldable. The device can be positioned as a “tent” or in a “stand”. Its screen positions are limitless.
The laptop has quite tiny bezels. It has an overall lightweight build. A defining trim bezel has also been added. Dell officially calls it the Infinity Display. Speaking of displays, Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 will have a 13-inch screen. It will have two available display options.
Users will be able to choose between them. A first is the regular version. This will be a Full HD 1930 x 1080 option. The second will be the UltraSharp Quad HD+. This latter will have 5.7 million crystals.
Both displays will have some similar features. They will have an anti-reflexive material coating. A 170-degrees viewing angle will also be available for both options.
Hardware specifications have also been offered. Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 users can choose their wished for variant. They will have different storage, processor, and RAM options to choose from.
All the processors will be powered by Intel Kaby Lake 7th Generations. They will come with a 3.6 GHz Core i7 or 3.2GHz Core i5 variant. The RAM can account for either 16, 8, or 4GB. Options will include a 1TB SSD or 512, 256, or 128 GB storage.
UltraSharp Quad HD+ screen devices will come with a pre-set processor. It will be powered by the Intel Core i7. Specifications point to its having a 7 hours Netflix streaming capacity. This can reportedly increase to 10 – 15 hours on Full HD devices.
The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 will be powered by a 46WHr battery. More specifications about its longevity and options will probably be offered.
2-in-1 models will have the usual ports. They will sport a Thunderbolt 3 and two USB Type – C. The devices will also come equipped with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microSD.
It will also have a fingerprint scanner. This is part of the added Windows Hello support. Active pen accessories will be compatible with the device’s touchscreen.
Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is currently available for pre-order. Its starting price will begin from $975. A highest specs device will come to about $1,799.
