The AT&T edition of the Galaxy S3 would have Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update as the same has now been released by AT&T recently. AT&T has been late in rolling out the update for the Galaxy S3 for users of the said device have already received the upgrade from their respective provider in the US much before. Sure version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is not the latest Android update though it is always a nice feeling when there is an update available.
And the reason for that is there are new set of features that updates come along with and the Galaxy S3 benefits from the introduction of several cool features. This includes the Samsung “Premium Suite,” a feature that allows for multi-window functions on the handset. This will allow users to have two simultaneous apps running on two window panes. The “Auto Share Shot” makes sharing of photo a breeze though the feature requires the other devices to which the file is to be sent must have NFC and S-Beam enabled. The camera itself has the option, after the upgrade for paper artist and best face functions. Functions for easier access to calendar, SD Card is also brought in by this upgrade as also enhancement to the existing S-Voice function. Some of the interesting apps that the update includes are Drive Mode, Family Map, Live TV, SmartWifi, AT&T services and AT&T locker.
The latest Android version that Google recently launched is Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. With the S3 benefitting from the Android 4.2.1 update, some opine that the next upgrade for the Galaxy S3 would be a jump to Android 4.3 without resorting to any incremental jump in between. At least Samsung has officially confirmed such a move to the Australian carrier Telstra and its likely to be applicable to the S3 as well.
Meanwhile, users of the S3 would start receiving their updates OTA by end of today. Users who do not update their sets till 7th august would be notified by AT&T individually regarding this update.
