Last month, during Facebook’s F8 conference, the social media service revealed that they were preparing a series of new options and features for Messenger. One of the most exciting is Instant Games, a feature which allows users to play games with their friends while chatting. As a first title, Facebook will offer Zynga’s Words with Friends, especially developed for the messaging service.
Facebook integrates games into chats
Through Instant Games, users will be able to play games without leaving the conversation. However, they will be no different from regular games, as they will resemble their options and features. Facebook will take this opportunity to integrate their new Bots into Messenger.
Bots will help users during the gameplay. They will offer them suggestions regarding their next moves and encourage them to be more competitive by showing the scores and leaderboards. They have already offered their developers freedom to create special bots for the games.
Zynga adapted their popular title for Messenger
Facebook responded to the requests which asked them to introduce turn-based games, but they surprised everybody with their collaboration with Zynga for Words with Friends. They shaped the game for Messenger, thus users will be able to choose friends to play with directly from their list.
Also, the playing board is smaller, allowing for quicker game sessions. This is exciting and fun, as users can both go on with their conversation and play the game at the same time. Therefore, it is now easier to debate and argue whether a word exists or not in the dictionary.
Facebook revealed that they had already prepared 50 games compatible with the Instant Games feature. However, they might not work on all devices. Android and iOS users should be able to benefit from these games starting this week. Among the available titles, there are 8 Ball Pool developed by Miniclip, or Blackstorm’s shooter EverWing.
