The iPad Mini has gone on to become one of the biggest selling devices from the Apple camp. So huge is the demand for the iPad Mini that its makers are faced with the strange scenario of the mini iPad now enjoying a greater demand than the 9.7 inch iPad. However, the iPad Mini is now almost a year old and the tablet and there is wild speculation going on as to what its successor will be like, or when it will be arriving at the big scene. We do have some indications though.
To begin with, the expected release date of the new iPad Mini 2 could be this October itself, given that was when the first gen iPad Mini was released. Apple surely will like to stick to its yearly product update cycle. Then its CEO Tim Cook too had mentioned they are in the process of developing some mazin g new hardware and software which they expect to launch during the fall of 2013 and throughout 2014.
Also, with the iPad Mini, one of the most striking things missing with the device was a retina display. Not that the iPad Mini made for a bad reading experience though it just wasn’t of retina display standards. Apple will surely like to make up for that in the iPad Mini 2, which also seems pretty much obvious given their current obsession with retina display.
One of the most striking aspects of the new iPad Mini was its design, what with its super slim profile and the thin bezels around the sides. Rumors claim the new iPad 5 will also have similar design cues as the mini version. However, analysts believe the iPad Mini itself will undergo a design overhaul along with sporting an even slimmer profile and thinner bezel.
These apart, an enhanced processor and battery will also be called for to allow for greater performance credentials and increased power demand to cater to a higher resolution display. Pricing will also be crucial here is Apple wished to see demand for the tablet remaining intact in the face of a slew of new tablet launches in the budget segment.
