Apple’s iPhone 5 tops the searched term for news stories this year on Bing. It is more famous than the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election, the London Olympics, Sunday Hurricane and even Honey Boo Boo.
This year 2012, most of the search terms on Microsoft engine are more on technology, social networks, movies and music. Bing’s annual list of top search queries for this year shows that iPhone 5 of Apple and Facebook are the top searches for 2012. The recent U.S. presidential election also gave great interest to the online world.
The Bing Team wrote this week in a blog post that 2012 is a significant year with many moments to reflect from the contested U.S. election history, Gangnam Style, London Olympic Games, rising stars, high-profile IPOs and reality TV. It’s been an exciting 12 months.
The Bing team of Microsoft accumulated search queries in billions and came up with top search terms in different categories – Social Network, Consumer Electronics, News Stories, Musicians and Olympians.
Facebook is unsurprisingly the most searched in social networks followed by Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn and Tumblr. In the Consumer Electronic’s, iPhone 5 tops the list as it is this year’s much-talked about. It is followed by Apple’s iPad then Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S3 and Amazon Kindle reader.
Other most searched terms are: Kim Kardashian for most searched person, Peyton Manning for most searched sports star, Justin Bieber for most searched musician, Serena Williams for most searched Olympian and The Avengers for most searched movie.
Furthermore, iPhone 5 tops the list in Google’s News search terms. Other top notchers are the 2012 U.S. elections, London Olympics, Hurricane Sandy as well as the Honey Boo Boo reality show.
