JetBlue Airlines provide free Wi-Fi connection to all their passengers. This may be a new reason for some to choose this particular airline when traveling by plane, for business purposes or vacation. On January 11, JetBlue officials have announced the implementation of free Wi-Fi for all their aircraft. According to the data provided by the airline, their Fly-Fi internet system may work at similar speeds as the well-known broadband connections.
What is more, the streaming capabilities of this new system will try to keep up with the broadband connections with which everybody is accustomed to. Jamie Perry, the vice president of JetBlue, argued that all their customers expect to be connected everywhere they go, irrespective of the fact that they may be lying on their sofa at home or they are flying at about 35,000 feet above the ground.
JetBlue Airlines is the only one which is currently providing free Wi-Fi for their customers, but also movies and live TVs. Some airlines request for their planes to reach cruise altitude before Wi-Fi is available for everyone’s use. JetBlue makes the difference since their aircraft offer free Wi-Fi from the moment all passengers come aboard.
Moreover, JetBlue also provides streaming video powered by Amazon. They also have 36 channels of DIRECTV and a wide range of free movies. JetBlue is an airline which was based in New York. The company installed Fly-Fi to all 2227 aircrafts available, such as Embraer 190, Airbus A320, and Airbus A321. Also, the A320 fleet provided free Wi-Fi from last year.
Last July, Delta Airlines implemented and launched their Delta Studio streaming service which is provided for all their customers for free. This service is now available on about 90% of all their aircraft. Delta Studio is bound to provide for their passengers more than three hundred movies, 2,400 songs, 750 TV shows and 18 channels of satellite TV.
Nevertheless, if we were to compare Delta Airlines with JetBlue Airlines, the first company does not yet provide free Wi-Fi for their customers when it comes to messaging or web surfing. Other airlines like Virgin America or Southwest have long implemented satellite TV aboard their aircraft. However, passengers need to pay if they want to benefit from premium TV content and movies.
