With technology getting refreshed so often these days, it sometime leads to the strange scenario of rumors competing with reality for the same screen space during roughly the same time frame. Take for instance the interesting case of Surface 2 rumors that had first emerged even when the Surface RT was still fresh in the market while Surface Pro didn’t even get to see the light of day. Nevertheless, after a lull of 6 months, we are once again faced with a new set of Surface 2 rumors. And now that we are done with the first gen Surface devices and with the excitement surrounding these already fading, now is a good time to pay heed to a new set of Surface 2 rumor.
To begin with, sources claim the new second gen Surface device will come with a screen size of anywhere between 7 and 9 inches. The more optimistic even claim there is a Surface 2 variant in the making, one that will have a 7.5 inch panel and that orders for the touchscreen panel have already been placed with the manufacturers. The display resolution of the 7.5 inch panel has been pegged at 1400 x 1050, which is impressive to say the least.
Coming to the tablet’s release dates, opinions are mixed with some claiming Microsoft might use the upcoming Build Developer Conference scheduled during 26 – 28 June to unveil the device with a market launch later in the year. Then there are many who believe the Surface 2 will only be released only in 2014. As for the tablet’s price, the general speculation is that it could be about $400, which again has become a topic of many a debate if consumers will be eager to part with that much money for a 7.5 inch tablet, even if it’s Window based.
