Some experts argue that the new Nintendo Switch was proved to be less powerful than PlayStation 4 due to its out-of-date processor architecture. In the last few years when competition boosted between Nintendo and other tech companies, Nintendo knew its place when it came to raw console power. Compared to Microsoft and Sony, this company focuses on developing console-exclusive IPs, instead of concentrating on fastest loading time and best frame rates.
Keeping in mind these difference between the products of the before mentioned companies, not all customers expected the Nintendo Switch to surpass the upcoming Scorpio from Microsoft or the PlayStation 4 Pro. What is more, the Nintendo Switch cannot even keep up with the last version of the PS4 which was launched approximately three years ago.
Based on the data included in a report, specialists claimed that PlayStation 4 has certainly exceeded the performance of the new Nintendo Switch. Knowledgeable sources have revealed that the new console has a Nvidia Tegra processor which uses the old Maxwell architecture, compared to other devices which use the Pascal graphics technology.
If the new console is launched using this type of processor, then it won’t be able to sustain 4K gaming in home console mode. It is possible that some customers may be pleased with this compromise when it comes to quality because the console can also transform into a handheld device. But, unfortunately, Nintendo fans will undoubtedly be disappointed by the old processor. Probably, many of them hoped to be able to play cutting-edge games in March 2017 when the console will be launched.
Customers should not be surprised that Nintendo uses this old technology for the process since the process of production for the new console started a long time ago. It is not surprising that they did not implement the latest Nvidia processor. Some may say that the Tegra processor may offer the same performance as the Xbox One, although no proof supports this assumption.
Fans hope that they will find out more details about the new Nintendo Switch in January when the release date and the price will be announced. After customers have seen in a trailer that Skyrim: Remastered Edition will be supported by the Switch console, they are now wondering if this game will run well on the new console.
