The new Tostitos bag was developed to make sure that no one drives after partying and drinking. Fri-Lay reminds everyone not to drink and drive. The chip maker created a ‘Party Safe’ Tostitos bag which has a sensor and also a light-up warning sign. The bag is equipped with a microcontroller which detects the alcohol on your breath.
The bag displays the message “Don’t drink and drive” and a red steering wheel. The ‘Party Safe’ bag is outfitted with the embedded near-field communication technology (NFC), allowing you to tap it with your phone so that you can request a taxi. Jennifer Saenz, the chief marketing officer of Frito-Lay, stated that their primary purpose is to prevent 25,000 cars from being on the road on Sunday evening when the Super Bowl will be on.
Even if fans watch the Super Bowl in a bar or at a friend’s house, they need to know that a safe ride home is only one tap away. The PepsiCo division has surprised NFL fans earlier by launching the new Party Safe bag, reminding everyone who has been drinking that they should not drive. Fans of the game can still take part in the company’s initiative of getting home safe.
Frito-Lay decided to team up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) being bound to offer sports fans $10 for their safe taxi ride after and during the Super Bowl taking place on February 5th. If you purchase a Tostitos bag and you look at the barcode, make sure you act fast, and you will be among the first 25,000 individuals to get $10 off their safe ride home during the sports event. The offer is available only for those in Hawaii and the continental US.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that back in 2015, on February 1st, 45 people died in car accidents after they got behind the steering wheel being and drove while drunk. On the day of the Super Bowl, these accidents accounted for almost half of all traffic incidents. Delanie Walker, a volunteer at MADD and Tennessee Titans tight end, claimed that it is crucial for everyone to understand that if you want to have a good time until the end of the day, you need to make sure you reach home safe.
