The immensely popular and award-winning tower defense video game Plants Vs Zombies is to have a successor soon. PopCap Games has officially announced a sequel titled Plants Vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time, which was previously scheduled for release on July 18. However, developers have postponed this pre-specified launch date to late this summer. PvZ developer posted a tweet, which says that the launch date has been postponed but no exact reasons to the delay have been stated.
Previously, Plants Vs Zombies was accessible on the Apple App Store at $0.99. However, PvZ developers announced that Plants Vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time as a free-to-play title that would emerge as a time-limited exclusive tag for iOS devices before being rolled out to other devices, including Android systems. Reportedly, the sequel will deracinate strategy game’s urbanized setup and include time-travelling, encounter with pirates, journey to Ancient Egypt and Wild West quest.
It’s about Time also facilitates updated touch-screen power-ups, which allow players to easily ‘smash the fourth wall’, i.e., you will be able to finish off zombies directly by jabbing your fingers on the touch-screen. PopCap also stated that merchant Crazy Dave will return to the sequel, providing specialized plant upgrades, weapons and tools. Supercharging plant foods will also be obtainable to reenergize plants.
Senior producer Allen Murray delivered a confident statement clarifying that players will admire the attention and love inserted into this game. The game’s official trailer has surfaced, and you just need to wait till this summer to experience the newer Plants Vs Zombies. Initially, It’s About Time will be rolled out to iOS, and other users will have to hold their patience.
Meanwhile, EA has announced Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare at Electronic Entertainment Expo 3. This console offshoot is a new 3D multiplayer game for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
