The biggest question before gaming enthusiasts right now is when the new gen Xbox One or the PlayStation 4 will be launched and what will be the release date of PS 4. Both Microsoft and Sony have hinted at November this year as the probable launch window though none have committed to any specific dates either.
Amazon seemed to have an answer as far as the launch of the Xbox One was concerned when it listed the new gaming rig at its site for a possible release on Nov 27. Microsoft though have squashed all hopes there by stating they haven’t revealed any specific dates to any of its retail partners, thereby nullifying claims of the Nov 27 release date.
However, the one thing that seems pretty much certain is that both Sony and Microsoft will be looking to launch their respective wares in the early winter or late autumn period to make the most of the holiday shopping frenzy. In that sense, Microsoft does stand to gain a lot if it launches the Xbox One on Nov 27, as it will be just a few days prior to Black Friday. Fortunately, we already know what the new consoles will cost, with Xbox One priced at $499 while Sony has priced its PS4 console $100 less at $399.
Both the companies are keen to ensure none gets a head-start over the other and it’s a cat-n-mouse game that seems to be played out before we know when we get the chance to play. Worth mentioning here, both Xbox 360 and PS 3 were launched almost a year apart though none will like that to be repeated this year.
