Friday is the day when the Apple Watch will be available in select stores. It is something that Apple and its dedicated customers have been looking forward to for some time, but it also brings a set of challenges that the company needs to deal with.
Apple has refused to say how many Watches it has sold so far and there has been speculation that this might be because the number was exactly what Apple would pride itself with. The company played it rough, however, and the tech giant said that it is not giving away figures because the competition might fiind them useful.
But now the Apple Watch is in stores and it is not dedicated customers that the company is targeting, but the general public, people who have never lived the “Apple experience”. So we are going to look at some feedback that people gave for the new wrist gadget and then the decision is all yours.
In an attempt to get an honest impression, a number of people were asked to test the Apple Watch in their day to day lives and provide some insight as to how it feels.
If you are into gym, then you might be interested in the Watch’s fitness tracker or, more specifically, counting calories. It is safe to say that the Watch does not excel at this particular feature. The caloric count is quite inadequate and makes disappoints the wearer: almost 4 hours of intense exercises counted no more than 320 calories burnt, which is a total let down.
If you travel a lot, however, the Watch might just become your best friend. You basically have all your info popping up on your hand than in your pocket or purse. The Delta App can be quite useful in airports when you can just bring up your ticket on your wrist. It is also useful for directions since it offers comfort and fast use.
Finally, the Watch had to withstand one more job: a parent’s job. It survived through hits, bumps and water without taking any damage. It also sort of provides a relative disconnection from your phone when you are reading bedtime stories to your little ones: you don’t need to bring your phone around so that you know what is going on, you just occasionally take a peak while you keep on reading.
So this is what it’s like to have an Apple Watch. It is not perfect, but it does provide the comfort you need for work and family. While the iPhone is still the most loved product, the Watch is also an interesting addition to the gadget family, so it might be worth checking out.
