Those of us who own a Samsung Galaxy S3 can expect the latest update for Android to arrive on the device soon. Samsung has all but confirmed that it is working on software for the Android Jelly Bean 4.2 update that is due to arrive on the Galaxy S3. That confirmation has come in the form of a firmware test leak for Jelly Bean 4.2 that Samsung is implementing on the Samsung Galaxy S3 I-9300, specifically the I9300XXUFMB3 model of the Galaxy S3.
At the backend of last year the Korean company rolled out the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update that came loaded with a bunch of new features thanks to Samsung’s Premium Suite. The company has also been rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to its older Galaxy S2 models, and it seems the electronics giant is in the mood for software updating lately.
It seems that Samsung is working on its update for the Galaxy S3 and the firmware leak that cropped up on XDA-Developer is specifically for the I9300XXUFMB3 model of the Galaxy S3. Okay, so now we know it is coming we can finally see what lovely new features are coming to the Galaxy S3.
- Improved Ripple effect on Lockscreen
- Lockscreen Widgets
- Daydream
- New Additions in Notification Center
- Improved Notifications
- Voice Command
It is worth remembering that this leak is merely a test, and will not be the actual update that will roll out. Samsung could be adding even more features to that already pretty long list, so we are still plenty excited to see what is available when the Jelly Bean 4.2 update lands. In terms of the date that the update will be released, we are hearing a strong rumour that Samsung is waiting until after the Galaxy S4 is announced, which would mean we still have to wait until after mid-March.
