Many have rumored the possibility of a Samsung S4 Mini based on Samsung’s moves last year, when it released a Galaxy S3 Mini shortly after the Galaxy S3. Some rumors pointed to a May-end release, a few weeks after the larger S4, but Samsung’s fan site SamMobile says that the launch has been delayed to July 15th-21st time frame.
Details on Samsung’s official apps website show Galaxy S4 Mini’s model number– GT I-9190, confirming that a miniature version is really arriving. The S4 Mini is likely a smaller version of S4 with trimmed down exteriors and innards. It is coming with a 4.3 inch display, single and dual sim versions, and with dual and quad core processors. The display will be Super AMOLED qHD with 256ppi for all versions. The larger Galaxy S4 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED screen with 441p pixel density and a host of camera features.
There are some convincing details about the launch of two more S4 versions – the Galaxy S4 Mega and Galaxy S4 Active, in addition to the Galaxy S4 Mini. SamMobile also revealed update description details for WatchON app on Google Play. The description mentions about support for S4 Mega, S4 Mini and S4 Active. The S4 Active is likely to be a stronger version of S4 with dust and water resistant features. It is expected to feature a 5-inch, 1080p screen, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Processor and 8MP camera.
Samsung has not confirmed any of these details though they seem convincing. Will the S4 versions hit the market around the same time? Rumors also point to the arrival of a dust and water resistant version of Samsung’s 2013 flagship device alongside the miniature version. Perhaps, Samsung is trying to beat the rugged features of Sony Xperia Z.
