The new Smart model will start using an Electric Drive. Smart’s vehicles are not known for the high-speed they could reach, but rather for the fact that they are easy to park. You can easily make your way through the crowd when driving this car. From the next year on, Mercedes-Benz’s line of cars offers their customers the possibility to acquire a version updated with an electric drive.
Daimler’s new Smart concept appears to live up to its name, being an intelligent choice for the environment and the society always on the run. After issuing three versions in the past 18 years, this time, Smart vehicles are prone to make a splash.
TechChruch issues that EV Smart vehicles will appear on the market on the ForTwo, ForFour and ForTwo Cabrio models. In other words, for every vehicle that in this moment is powered by gas, there will be a car powered by a battery analogous on the market. Of course, the change will happen in time.
The producers announce that customers should be aware of the fact that they could not hope for any records regarding this range. The capacity of the battery is 17.6 kWh, meaning 99 miles. On the other hand, this car appears to be better than the Volkswagen E-Golf. This Smart car will cover a larger range, but in a smaller deal.
Head of Smart, Annette Winkler, stated that Smart is a suitable city car which allows you to move even when your space is limited. What is more, the electric drive version is friendly to the environment. When the first Smart car was designed by Mercedes in collaboration with Swiss, the idea was to build it as an electric drive. That is why the car was designed with a high seating position. The disadvantage of the times back in 1998 didn’t make that possible.
Anyhow, the owner of a Smart is in advantage. Having a small battery, the car will need approximately 2 hours to charge. For now, there has been no pricing available for the EV models. All that was announced was that the ForTwo Electic Drive model would be available in spring next year and the Cabrio model will appear on the market in summer 2017.
