CI Games wanted to enter the market of AAA games with Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. Critics regarded it as a good sniper game, but it failed to reach their expectations. Several bugs and some elements from its story reduced the quality of the gaming experience, so the title made quite a poor entrance in the AAA world.
CI Games promises a completely new shooter
However, the company doesn’t want to leave the game like this, and promised plenty of updates for it which are to be released throughout 2017. Also, the creators promised to bring a sequel to Lords of the Fallen, as they have gathered plenty of inspiration and ideas for a new shooter.
After releasing Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, the company learned plenty of new tricks, and was able to gather some tips on how to develop a future shooter game. First of all, it learned that open world games come with certain limitations, but they can be avoided. The most important thing the developers realized was probably the fact that labeling the game as AAA might not have been the best idea.
Labeling Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 as AAA was a mistake
Marek Tymiñski, the CI Games CEO, said that they probably shouldn’t have chosen to develop such a large scale game with an open world universe. This required plenty of work, which surpassed their forces and left them a bit at a loss.
They miscalculated the time they needed to develop such a game, and couldn’t bring their best in the amount of time they had before releasing the game. Instead of refining the game, they had to rush to catch up with similar AAA games with better features and production. Now, they promise an exciting new title with plenty of tactics, clever mechanics, and a great gameplay.
“All of that was a huge lesson for us and we’re now moving forward without any tag attached to our next project.”
