Sony has announced the new Z4v high end Flagship phone. While the differences between the Z4 and the Z4v are not considerable, it is at least expected to have an upgrade Snapdragon 810 Processor.
Version announced that it will be the sole distributor for the Z4v in the U.S.
Sony has managed to confuse everyone with releases of almost identical phones in different countries using different names but very close announcement dates.
The Z4v has better specifications than the regular Z4 but not by much.
Comparing the 3 similar releases from Sony the Z4V has a slightly better battery capacity with 3000 mAh compared to the 2930 of the other 2.
It also has the best resolution at 2560×1440 which is the most significant improvement from the Z4 and Z3+ at 1920×1080.
Most of the other specifications are the same all 3 phones with 20.7 megapixel front cameras and 5 megapixel rear ones, 32 GB memory and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Processor.
The Snapdragon 810 Processor might however be an upgraded version, since the current one has many problems with overheating.
All of this makes for a good, high standard, fast processing phone, with a very good front camera and stylish features.
The Company is trying to give their competition a run for their money in the high end market, with launches every six months or so.
The problem with releasing new phones that do not differ from each other much, is that it might affect sales.
Overexposing the buyer to names and specifications that are too similar, will create disinterest in the long run, so Sony must make some changes to its sales technique now, before it is too late.
While the Xperia Z2 and Z3 had good reviews, the popularity of the brand especially in the U.S. and Europe is not as great as it once was. High end phones have high end prices and thus a limited audience.
Notably, Apple and Samsung have a great share in the market, and carving out a fan club within the high end customers base requires more than just a good product.
People who are willing to pay large amounts of money for a handset expect to be dazzled with interactive launches, new applications, better performance or at least a unique style.
Apple has worked on the opposite strategy, and rather than releasing many new upgrades to current phones , it waits a while that releases a notably different product using worldwide live-streams and events, that are made to build up anticipation.
