Though Sony has left its fans guessing on the exact launch date of its latest gaming console, new rumors point to a November 13th release based on a leaked market-launch schedule of major German retailer Media Market.
The report comes from Xbit Labs, which says that Media Market, a major consumer electronics retailer supplying European countries, has unintentionally released marketing posters and advertisements that depict a November 13th release for PS4. Evidence to this end is a picture of the display in an Amsterdam store. The picture was posted by a NeoGAF forum member. Subsequently, another member reverted, saying that a similar display was spotted in an Austria store. Adding more weight to the story, a Dutch source cites a post on a forum site called budgetgming.nl, saying that Sony has supplied promotional materials, which point to a November 13th release date.
Given the popularity of Media Market in the European electronic consumers’ arena, it can be assumed that the PS4 is scheduled for the November 13th launch in Europe. And, Sony generally releases its products in the United States before heading to Europe. That said the best guess is that the PS4 will arrive in United States, or more broadly North America, around the end of October or the first week of November.
When Sony announced the PS4, it simply mentioned a “Holiday 2013” release, leaving excited fans to ponder over the probable release date. A generalized notion of the holiday season would speak of the months of October, November and December together. Sony, however, unveiled the pricing detail as $399. Now, it seems like Sony has already started providing shipment schedules to its retailers and distributors. The speculated release date of PS4 is about two weeks prior to that of Microsoft Xbox One.
