The latest software update that Sony has rolled out for their Xperia Smartphones gives the handset ability for cloud computing. The new update is targeted at the media apps, or specifically the Album, Movies and Walkman apps. With cloud computing ability being added to the set, users would be able to easily access their content stored in the clouds. For instance with the Walkman app, users can perform a search operation via Music Unlimited on content stored on the local storage or the cloud effortlessly. This apart, the Walkman app has also been made a bit more ‘intelligent’ as it will be able to recommend content based on what your friends are hooked on to and so on. This apart, the app has also been made more ‘social’ in that users will be able to share, discover or play content derived from social circles.
Similarly, for the Movies app, it has now been more closely tied to Video Unlimited which makers for a much more refined user experience. This apart, the app has also benefitted with a minor facelift of its user interface as well.
For the Album app, PlayMemories will boast of better cloud integration post the update. This will allow users to upload their content to the cloud for later access or browsing with the least fuss. Users will also have the option to mark those images you like most as Favorites for viewing as a cluster anytime you wish to. Recall Playback is another interesting feature that displays images that it believes is most relevant to any specific event or occasion.
All users’ of the Sony Xperia running on android 4.2 would with time receive their OTA update. The update is being rolled out worldwide but in phases, which means not all users of Xperia devices all over the world will have the update at once.
