With the news regarding the new mirrorless Nikon 1 V3 recent reveal, everybody jumped the train and deeply investigated the miracle camera. And when we say miracle, we mean it: it is almost overpowered for such a small and affordable camera, making it the Superman of its class, giving other mirrorless competitors, such as Olympus and Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds a reason to tremble a little, as Nikon may have taken its sweet time to fall behind its rivals and kept it quite when it came to HD video standards built by Canon on their DSLRs, but slow doesn’t mean low quality for the Japanese company, as while others filled in the market with a large variety of models and versions, Nikon did its homework and now the company is harvesting outstanding reviews and international applause. But from what it seems, the Nikon 1 V3 is for the pros of journalism – or at least they are the ones who will benefit most from its features.
What is so great about the Nikon 1 V3 from a professional photographer’s point of view?
The guys from GadgetReview call it a “killer action camera”, able to continuously shoot still images at at 20fps with a continuous autofocus and 60fps in single AF, making the camera perfect to capture those exact special moments in sports actions, celebrity reactions, pets erratic behavior or children’s sudden mood changes. The Nikon 1 V3 was further investigated and got its laurel crown for the fastest and best auto – focus speed in its class. And speaking about class, let’s not forget this is a relatively a small, compact camera with a 18-megapixel sensor – which is smaller than its peers, but evidently more powerful. Without forgetting the built-in Wi-Fi with sidecar apps for iOS and Android, nor the spectacular video shooting features.
The Nikon 1 V3 is for the pros
However, just as the recent promotional video released by Nikon clearly show, this is less a camera for the regular Instagram user, but more a pro tool for paparazzi and especially sports and nature journalists. This doesn’t mean amateurs won’t get extended benefits from this impressive camera, but the price, the specs and the marketing seem to point out that there is a new champion in the professional photography league and they will probably be the first ones to get their hands on the product as soon as it shows up on the market.
