No one said that you cannot turn nostalgia into money. There are many gaming companies out there who have decided that revamping older games is much more profitable than creating new ones. Thus, Japan revamps Nintendo 2DS, bringing back those games that made our childhood great.
And what better way to resurrect an older generation of consoles, than sticking a Pokemon label on it. Yes, you heard it right! Apart from bringing back the console from the dead, Nintendo plans on shipping the old timer in 4 newly Pokemon inspired colors.
So, for those out there who are interested in getting a Nintendo 2DS console, you will be able to choose from 4 different colors, including bright red, green, blue and Pikachu yellow.
According to some reports, the red and blue Nintendo 2DS models have already hit European markets. Moreover, it would seem that we won’t have to wait that long for the other models.
And if this is about nostalgia, we have more good new. It would seem that the greatly improved Nintendo 2DS console will feature the newest installment in the Pokemon franchise. Furthermore, it would also seem that this will be a first even for Japan.
This will be the first appearance of the classical gaming console in Japan. Both console and the game bundles will be available on the market in the second half of February 2016.
For those of you out there who don’t know what Pokemon is, let’s wheel in a couple of facts about the Pokemon Universe. The original concept belongs to Satoshi Tajiri, the big man himself, who is behind other game concepts such as Legend of Zelda and Pulseman.
The concept dates back to 1995 when Tajiri released the first sketches detailing certain aspects of the Pokemon universe. Basically, the story is centered around several school, which trains human in order to capture creatures which possess special powers. The creatures are trapped with a high-tech device called a Pokeball.
After a character catches such a creature, he then proceeded on training him in order to fight against other creatures. Tournaments would be organized in order to see who is granted the title of Pokemaster, the one who is capable of defeating all his adversaries in battle.
The story hovers around a young boy called Ash Ketchum, who is striving to become the ultimate Pokemon master. Aided by Misty, professor Oak, and Pikachu, Ash will do everything in its power in order to defeat his opponents and to earn the title of Pokemaster.
