PS 4 Release Date – Sony to Launch PlayStation 4 on 13th November?

July 21, 2013 By Nicholas Anderton 27 Comments

PlayStation is one of the most awaited tech gadgets of the year. Even though its counterpart Xbox One seems to be a better device, PlayStation fans are waiting for the PS4 to come out in the stands. The speculations on the release date of PlayStation are going around like a wild fire. We are only few months away from the launch of PlayStation 4. Till now, Sony has not made any official announcement on PlayStation 4 release date.

sony-playstation-4-xl

The Xbox One which seems to be much promising device is expected to come out in the market first. If it happens, Xbox One can certainly win over PS4. The next generation Xbox, the Xbox One is no longer a gaming console but a complete family entertainer that allows you to watch cable TV programs on it. Hence, PS4 has to come out before Xbox One so that it gains control over the market.

PS4 release date on one website which is pretty confident about the launch, claims that the gaming console will be available for purchase on November 13th. The date has been declared by the website after two European retail outlets confirmed on the said date. Through this we can understand that the Sony gaming console will have an edge of around two weeks over Microsoft’s Xbox One. The Amazon.com states that the Xbox One will be out in the market on November 27.

Sony has recently the game titles that can be enjoyed on the PS4. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Fifa 14, Madden NFL 25, NBA 2K14, Watch Dogs, and few more. Apart from these, even other games like Daylight, Need for Speed: Rivals, The Crew, The Witness, Transistor and War Thunder are some of the titles that are expected to come to Sony PS4.

The Sony PlayStation 4 comes with powerful hardware specs. It is powered by an x86 CPU with 8 cores, 1.84 TFLOPS GPU, and memory of 8GB GDDR5. It comes with Blu-ray/DVD drive, USB 3.0, Ethernet and v2.1 Bluetooth. On the PS4 eye accessory, you will find two cameras and four microphones.

On the new PS4, you will be able to update the system and download games while you enjoy playing your favorite game. Your game play sessions can be streamed and you will be able to make small clips that you will be able to share with your friends over the PS network. Through PS Vita, you will be able to play games remotely. The DualShock 4 controller is what you get with the PS4. It comes with dedicated buttons like share, touchpad and lightbar.

So far the presales of the PS4 has been very impressive. The PS4’s price is going to be less than the price of PS3 when it was launched. Also, the PS4 price will be less than that of Xbox One. The PS4 is going to be released in US and then it will rolled out in European countries. So there is a possibility that PS4 will be available in North America during the last two weeks of October or very early in November. We will have to wait to hear the official news on the PS4 release date from Sony.

PlayStation 4, Xbox One Release Date to Cost $349, $399 respectively

July 18, 2013 By Daniel Giordano 10 Comments

Both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release date are going to be available for sale around the same time at the end of the year. The Xbox One will be priced at $399 and the PlayStation 4 is going to be priced at $349. The prices of the gaming consoles were not officially announced by the respective manufacturers but by the popular analyst, Michael Pachter from Wedbush Securities.

xbox gaming

microsoft-xbox-one
The price analysis comes just before the E3 video game conference that is going to be held in the next week. Pachter made the analysis by calculating the amount of money that was spent on the materials that were used to build both the gaming consoles. The research was done on the basis on the price speculation of each of the devices and was also done on the basis of their specifications.

Eight years ago, the Xbox 360 was launched at a price tag of $399 in 2005. The PlayStation 3 was launched in two hard disk storage capacity variants, the 20GB model was priced at $499 whereas the 60GB model was priced at $599. According to Pachter, Sony made the PlayStation 3 available at an expensive price which affected its long-tem popularity.

Sony and Microsoft are yet to reveal the official prices and they have not commented on Pachter’s report. If you feel that Xbox One’s $399 and PlayStation 4’s $349 tag is on the expensive side, Pachter has something interesting for you. He feels that different partners of Microsoft and Sony will make the gaming consoles available at much cheaper rates.

He said the Xbox One which lets you view live TV, cable operators might offer contracts that will last for couple years along with the Xbox One devices. Also, the gaming console from Microsoft can be connected to browse the web to perform video calling on Skype. This can interest internet service providers to offer Xbox One devices at reduced rates.

The rival gaming console, PlayStation 4 may not be available with such exciting offers. Still, the makers can provide discounts to customers who avail PlayStation Network subscriptions. Since the features of the Sony PlayStation 4 are not yet known, the PS4 may come out with similar features that are present on the Xbox One. If this happens, there are chances of getting the PS4 at reduced rates.

The Xbox One is not just a gaming console but a complete family entertainer. The PlayStation brand name suggests that it is a gaming console. It is only because the Xbox has metamorphosed into a family entertainment system, expectations are high that even the new gaming console from Sony will offer multimedia functions.

Pachter also added that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo will be reducing the rates of the previous generation gaming consoles. He said that we can expect a price reduction of $50 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 whereas the price of Nintendo Wii U could fall to $99.

PS4 Release Date – Sony Playstation 4 will be Launched in November

July 11, 2013 By David Crozier 2 Comments

Sony seems to have confirmed its PS4 release date by posting an image of the gadget on Twitter, making it appear the next gen gaming console will release in early November. Also, what makes November appear great for the release of the console is that it will give sufficient time for Sony to get the console in the hands of the consumer as well as to finish off the first lot before replenishing the stock well before the arrival of the holidays. Also of course, a release in early November will allow Sony to match up with the Xbox One that is also rumored to launch in November.

PS4-release-date

Sony’s revelation of the release date of its gaming console has come in the most interesting manner, with an analogy drawn with a unique celestial event set to happen during November. Sony has come up with an image of an eclipse with the words When Worlds Collide in their Twitter account. The teaser also doesn’t follow any particular game, which makes one believe that Sony is starting off a marketing strategy for PS4.

Meanwhile, 3rd of November is the date of total solar eclipse in Europe, Asia, North America and others. According to the image, it is expected that 3rd of November is the release date for PS4 or even could mark the starting off of a campaign which might lead to the release of PS4. November 3rd, a Sunday, cannot be ruled out for as the release date for PS4, although Sony previously has launched PS3 in North America on a Friday. A Sunday release might even put Amazon behind on delivery and might also give a lead to the GameStop that has sold out of the PS4 pre ordered stock. However a previous leak has mentioned 13th November as the PS4 release date. The news came from some other retailers and not Sony.

Sony previously has also released PS3 in North America before Europe, both these dates might hold some truth. As the PS3 release happened months later, a closer date of release does make sense. Sony has yet to confirm the launching date of PS4, but it appears we are in the midst of more confusion as more images flows in.

PS 4 Release Date – E3 Event reveals Playstation 4 Price, Launch Date by Sony

July 2, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste 6 Comments

The long-awaited PlayStation 4 (PS4) release date is going to be on December 31st bearing a price tag of $399, which is about $100 less than Microsoft’s Xbox One launched last month. Amazon launched pre-orders for the console just minutes after Sony announced the PS4 at the June 10th Electronic Entertainment Expo, the gaming industry’s yearly trade exhibition.

PS4

Sony revealed that PS4 will support used games without restrictions. Users won’t require round-the-clock Internet connection to play games. A collection of new games from the portable PlayStation Vita and the PS3 console were revealed as well. The Vita will get over 80 new titles in 2014, including new editions of God of War, Dead Nation and Final Fantasy. YouTube, Skype and Netflix are also expected for Vita.

Among the new game titles for PS4, Sony announced 12 brand new IP’s that will participate in the new platform. The company gave a glimpse into a few games, including The Order 1886, Killzone Shadowfall, Knack and Second Son. All the new titles are expected this year except for Second Son that will come in 2014.

Regarding games for PS3, the event featured a preview of a good number of games, including Last of Us, Puppeteer, Beyond Two Souls and Gran Turismo6. The GTA 5, with a GTA-branded headset and a package of episodes, is expected to bring an “epic experience” on PS3, as Sony CEO Jack Tretton put it.

The peripherals of PS4 include a Wireless Controller and a PS4 Camera, which will come for $59. They exude a simple yet elegant design with a slim and light form factor. The angled front and back portions of the jet-black console allows easy access to disc slot and power button in both the horizontal and vertical position, and also conceals cables.

How will the PS4, with its cost advantage over Xbox One, perform?

PS4 Release date – Sony Playstation 4 to be unveiled at Gamescom event

June 30, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste 1 Comment

For PlayStation fans who are still pondering over the release date of the PlayStation 4, the good news is that Sony is likely to announce the date at the Gamescom event in August. The story comes from a German site called PC Games, which cites reports from sources close to Sony.

Gamescom, an annual gaming event held in Germany, is known to attract a crowd of 270,000 or more every year. The European gaming event is similar to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) that took place in the U.S. on June 11th. Sony revealed much of the gaming aspects of its PS4 at the E3 event. It has always given importance to the Gamescom event as well, meaning that it has reserved some big announcement for the Gamescom event – it could be the release date of PS4.

sony-ps4

When Sony announced the PS4, it gave a vague “Holiday 2013” release period for the device. That has left many guessing and rumoring various schedules. The most recent rumor points to a November 13th release in European markets, based on a leaked market-launch timetable of a German retailer.

While announcing the PS4, back in February, Sony unveiled games like Mark Cerny’s Knack and Killzone: Shadow Fall for its PS4. The PS4 platform will likely support Indie games. At the E3 event, Sony flaunted a new IP – The Order 1886. However, many are still waiting to hear about Guerrilla Games, Media Molecule, Naughty Dog and similar first party studios. Well, Gamescom will likely provide information on these and more.

The Gamescom event will take place from August 21st to 25th, and Sony’s announcement is expected on August 21st, the media day. It is also expected to have surprises for European gamers. SCEE’s Jim Ryan has already said that PS4 will get 20 new games within the first year of its release.

PS4 Release Date – Sony Playstation 4 coming on December 31st?

June 18, 2013 By Brandi McCants 2 Comments

Hard-core gamers waiting for Sony’s new PlayStation 4 (PS4) can expect to get their hands on it on December 31st. That is the date given by online retailer Amazon, but Sony has yet to reveal a specific date for the PS4 release.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the annual trade exhibition of the video-game industry, Sony gave some insight into its new gaming console. Sony announced a $399 price, a thought-provoking feature for ardent gamers, especially because it is $100 less than its rival, the Xbox One.

ps4

At first glance, the console looks elegant with sharp angles and black color. It includes a Controller and a PlayStation 4 camera that will cost $59.  Yet another appealing feature of the PS4 is that gamers need not stay online all the time. In other words, you can play without having to sign in online. Sony is expected to let owners trade PS4 game discs and opt for cheaper pre-owned games.

Sony already revealed a few specs of the PS4 at a February event. A few mock-up designs also emerged at the 2013 Games Developers Conference, giving an idea of the revamped controller and the PS4 Eye.

The E3 event demoed quite a few games for the new console, including Killzone Shadowfall, Second Son and the Order 1866. It also touted a GTA-branded headset that will make the GTA 5 a blockbuster. Sony announced twelve new IPs for the new gaming platform.

Under the hood, PS4 will be powered by AMD x86 octa-core CPU providing 1.84 TLFOPS. The console will have the next gen Radeon-based graphics engine and an 8GB iGDDR5 RAM, which can provide 176GB/sec bandwidth. The console’s power will be “unparalleled” as Sony CEO Andrew House put it.

How much impact will the long-awaited PS4 have on the gaming industry? Will it do better than the Xbox One?

Playstation 4 vs Xbox One – Release Date, Features of Sony PS 4 and MS Gaming Console

May 30, 2013 By Mary Duncan Leave a Comment

The heart of PS4 and Xbox One are indeed similar, running on AMD x86 octa-core CPUs. While Sony did not show its next generation console during its February announcement, Microsoft revealed a lot of information with demos at the May launch event. It must also be mentioned that, the PS4 reveal had much to do with games, whereas the Xbox one reveal touted more about the non-gaming features.

xbox-one-vs-ps4

Harking back to the predecessors of the new consoles, Sony’s original PlayStation debuted in 1994, while Microsoft’s original Xbox made its entry in 2000, after Sony released its PS2. Despite the late entry, the Xbox gained a substantial market share in the world of video gaming, and has been a hot rival of the PlayStation.

Coming to the next gen consoles, gamers have been pondering whether Xbox One has enough to offer in the gaming department. Doubts arose after the initial glance at the launch event, which seemed to convey that Xbox One’s entertainment features are as good as its gaming features. In contrast, PS4 seems to be all about gaming.

Both consoles have not changed their controllers radically, but tried to upgrade them with subtle innovations and slight modifications. Sony and Microsoft have unveiled motion sensing technologies as well. While the former has yet to reveal more about its PlayStation 4 Eye, the latter did a good job demonstrating its Kinect, which can sense detailed movements of the gamer and even detect one’s heartbeat.

Sony is planning to show more of PS4 at the 2013 E3 event, where Microsoft will detail its gaming department. It is expected to release the console in November, coinciding with the Xbox One release. With two similar consoles launching in November with similar pricing and software line-ups, how will gamers make their purchase decision?

Playstation 4 vs Xbox One – PS 4, New Xbox Price, Features, Games, Release Date

May 27, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) are great improvements over their predecessors – the Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively. While the predecessors are way too different, the technology behind the new consoles is amazingly similar. Both consoles feature motion control technology, instant power-on and seamless update in the background. They will be released around the same time later this year, so gaming enthusiasts will be left with a difficult choice. Perhaps, a brief discussion on how they measure up against each other will help!

xbox-one-vs-ps4

Hardware

The Xbox One and PS4 are powered by eight-core AMD Jaguar processors with x86 architecture similar to processors used in PCs. The major difference is in the RAM type – Xbox One uses 8 GB of DDR3 RAM while PS4 uses 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM.

Xbox One will have a 500 GB hard drive, HDMI in/out, USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. PS4 will have huge hard drive (exact size has yet to be announced), HDMI, USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet.

xbox-one-playstation-4-specs

PS4 features 1,152 GPU cores while Xbox One uses 768 graphics cores. PS4’s GPU is expected to have 50% more raw graphical computational power compared to Xbox One. It will be capable of driving 1.84 TFLOPS compared to Xbox One’s throughput of 1.23 TFLOPS.

Xbox One, PS 4 Controllers

The Xbox One controller is more refined with a better D-pad, more responsive triggers and a new battery compartment for improved ergonomics and aesthetics.

The DualShock 4 on PS4 features a clickable touch pad and a light bar, which works with Move and PS4 Eye camera to track the controller and adjust split-screen orientation for multiplayer gaming. It features analog sticks, easy-to-use triggers, headphone jack, built-in speaker, and Share button for social networking.

xbox-one-vs-ps4-controllers

The Xbox One connects to its controller via Wi-Fi, while PS4 depends on Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. Theoretically, Wi-Fi Direct’s 250 Mbps throughput outperforms the 3 Mbps speed of Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

Motion and Voice Control Technology

The Xbox One comes with a Kinect 2.0 unit with a 1080p camera and better tracking capabilities, including the ability to track overall body expressions and determine heart rate. The upgraded Kinect allows you to control the console with voice commands. You can log into your account by saying “Xbox On” and continue to pronounce more commands to start playing, or watch TV.

PS4 will be compatible with the Move controller and new camera though Sony has yet to announce whether they would be bundled with the system. It will feature the PlayStation Eye that can use the Move controller and track the light bar on DualShock 4. It can stream video while you are streaming a game.

At this point it is hard to rate which motion/camera is better, Kinect is likely to be more pervasive.

Non-gaming features

Xbox One, touted as a comprehensive solution for the living room, will let you switch from game to TV, Web, movie, or Skype without switching inputs via simple voice commands. It will also allow multitasking, such as running games and apps simultaneously. Instead of replacing the cable box, it will plug into it, enabling live TV control. Xbox One will facilitate live streaming services as well.

Sony has yet to reveal more about PS4’s non-gaming entertainment, but there are no talks of live TV integration.

xbox-one-vs-playstation-4

Social features

Social features of Xbox One pertain to Skype, Xbox Live, Smart Match and SmartGlass. The friends-list limit on Xbox Live has been increased from 100 to 1,000. The console will allow simultaneous participation of more players in multiplayer games and allow developers to make new releases in accordance to the game’s community.

The Share button on PS4’s controller allows you to broadcast live gameplay and share videos of recent games. Friends can watch you play and post comments during the game, or even take over your controls to help you through difficult sections of the game via Sony’s Gaikai technology. PS4 will be integrated with Facebook and video chat. Players can stream games via the PlayStation Network or UStream. With Remote Play, PS4 games can be streamed onto PlayStation Vita.

PS 4 , Xbox One Games

Microsoft assures 15 exclusive games by the first 12 months of Xbox One launch, with eight games coming from new franchises. It has revealed Forza 5 racing, Crytek’s Ryse and Alan Wake’s Quantum Change. More details are expected at the E3 event in June 2013.

killzone8_1

While announcing PS4 in February, Sony revealed Mark Cerny’s Knack and the Killzone: Shadow Fall. It also showed clips from Infamous: Second Son and Drive Club racing game. However, it kept silent on the number of exclusive titles for PS4.

Pricing

Rumors have it that Xbox One will cost $499, and a subsidized $299 with Xbox Live subscription. There are no guesses on PS4 pricing. However, Microsoft and Sony are yet to announce the official pricing.

Distinctive features

Despite many similarities between Xbox One and PS4, each has its own distinctive features. Comparing Xbox One’s Kinect 2.0 with PS4 Eye, it seems like Xbox One has the edge on motion tracking. PS4 has the edge in terms of GPU size and raw gaming power.

Xbox One has HDMI to let gamers watch TV without switching the input. The cable box can be controlled with voice commands via Kinect. In addition, the Snap feature allows users to open apps alongside live stream. Skype integration allows video chat via Kinect’s 1080p camera.

Indie game support makes Sony’s PS4 stand out. PS4 and the PlayStation Vita will serve as a choice platform for Indie developers. While Sony plans to allow independent studios publish games on PS4, Microsoft prefers to work with major publishers.

xbox-one-ps4

While each console has its own pros and cons based on the specs known so far, it is better to wait for the actual release of both for a true comparison.

Sony PlayStation 4 Release Date – PS 4 tiny teaser Released just before Xbox 720

May 21, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

Sony has just brought out an official teaser of the PlayStation 4. It has been officially released by the Japanese tech and is not the fake trailer, which was out on the web a week back or so. The video does not reveal much detail on PS4. The video is stuffed to the edge with unclear images and still frames, similar to unit’s vents in appearance.

sony-playstation-4

The 39 second-long video shows up a square PS4, this is different from its rectangular predecessor. Images in the video also zoom in and out. The video shows that the unveiling event of PS4 is to take place on 10th June, Monday, 9 p.m. EST. Some games have been confirmed to be present on PS4, which are ‘inFamous Second Son’, ‘Killzone Shadow Fall’, ‘Watch Dog’, ‘and Destiny’, etc.

The video is terminated at 39 seconds, hurriedly showing up some close-up snaps of PS4, before diminishing into darkness. The unveiling event will take place at Los Angeles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo Conference. As announced, the Japanese tech is supposed to stream the event exclusively on the web, facilitating users to make up their minds while viewing PS4’s latest specs live.

The console’s Dualshock 4 operator will feature a share button that incorporates gameplay viewing and game streaming into the PlayStation 4. The images in the video also shows what seem to be HDMI ports, Ethernet ports, and disc drive and also the official PlayStation black logo.  Sony will be announcing the release date and detailed specifications, relative mobile applications and games of the PS4 at E3.

Xbox and PS4 will compete with each other if both are launched by the end of 2013. Sony just toddled out this video, a day before its competitor, Xbox’s unveiling event at Redmond Campus by Microsoft. A hot atmosphere is just about to develop on the digital gaming zone.

Sony PlayStation 4 Release Date – PS 4 Rumored to Come With Speech Recognition Feature

May 19, 2013 By Lori David 1 Comment

We might have already been provided with a glimpse of the upcoming PlayStation 4 though unfortunately, much of it is still shrouded in secrecy and will be only revealed on its release date. Sony had just partially revealed the PlayStation 4 during the PlayStation Meeting 2013 conference held in New York a few months ago.

Unfortunately, not much has happened in the last few months to provide us with the complete details of the next gen gaming console from Sony. And in such a situation, its only rumors and speculation that we have to rely on, which often does help in arriving at a clearer picture.

PS 4

Take for instance the recent revelation about the PlayStation 4 that it will come integrated with a speech recognition system. Of course this isn’t confirmed as yet and there are no documentations to prove it either, except that Sony has put up a job ad with the intent of hiring a ‘Speech Recognition Engineering Intern’. Qualities that Sony is looking for in the right candidate include expertise in several fields which include ‘noise reduction, speech detection, grammar processing and such along with ‘speech enhance and processing of noise speech with human voice in the background’, among others. In what way Sony intends to put to use the human voice recognition feature in the gaming console is anybody’s guess though.

Other areas where Sony is expected to shed some more light include a probable launch window of the PlayStation 4, if not a specific launch date itself. Towards this, analysts believe it could be October before we could end up with the real thing in flesh. But then, there are also some who would also like us to believe the launch of the PlayStation 4 will suffer some delays, in some markets at least.
