The latest gadget from Samsung is a hybrid between a camera and a phone. The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom is a little different than the previous Galaxy S4 Zoom meaning that it feels more like phone than a camera, at least that’s what we think. The new smartphone comes with a 20.7 megapixel sensor and a 10x optical zoom. It’s a relatively big phone because it incorporates a camera in it. It weighs 7 ounces and it’s 5.4×2.8×0.8 inches. That doesn’t mean it’s not an uncomfortable phone. It’s got a good grip thanks to the rounded body. The new Samsung Galaxy K Zoom runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, it has a 4.8 inch 1080 pixels Super Amoled HD screen, which is bright and saturated. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the same software as the S5 that made the display visible in every lighting conditions. The new smartphone features a hexacore Samsung Exynos processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8GB of storage (or 16GB), a microSD card slot, LTE and other wireless functions. The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom comes in black, white and electric blue.
The coolest feature about Samsung’s new smartphone is the Selfie Alarm. That’s right, a feature designed especially for our favorite past time activity. This lets you take selfie shots with the main 20MP camera instead of the 2MP front camera. You just need to put the camera in front of you, it will beep when you are in frame and then it automatically shoots the picture. How cool is that? You get optical stabilization for photos and 1080p videos at 60 frames per second.
With the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom you can take really good photos and quite easily thanks to several modes like the auto mode that switches to macro instantly. You also get various photo filters that look a lot like Instagram filters, which is a good thing.
The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom is smaller than the Galaxy S but doesn’t come with some of its features like the fingerprint scanner and the heart rate monitor. Instead it has a really high-quality camera, something that people really use.
Samsung Galaxy K Zoom – availability
The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom is released in May in several countries, with no plans for a US release yet. The reason for this could be that the previous camera phones from Samsung (the Galaxy Camera and the Galaxy S4 Zoom) didn’t sell that well through AT&T.
