Android Jelly Bean 4.1 upgrade for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

May 12, 2013 By Lori David Leave a Comment

Finally, the Jelly Bean v4.1 upgrade for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has been initiated by developers. The update arrived much later than expected. However, still it is confined to customers in Asian markets, with foreign regions requested to be patient for some more time.

Samsung encountered a troublesome situation in March, which led to postponement of the Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. Possibly, the Korean tech had some issues with the processor and its performance compatibility with the new Android version. But Samsung seems to have sorted out the issues and rolled out the update successfully.

The update has been released in several Asian regions on some specific carriers. Singapore, Indonesia (StarHub), Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand (Globe), Philippines (Sun), Singapore (SingTel) and Malaysia have been offered this beneficial software update. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 operated on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 from which the device’s OS will be updated to Android Jelly Bean 4.1. The latter version has more utility specs than the former and thus, would benefit your tablet.

The new OS update endows the device with speedier UI, improved calendar and browser, enhanced camera application, multitasking, widgets, etc. This software update is an Over-the-Air (OTA) update. However, the update is available via Kies. Currently, the Tab 7.7 GT-P6800 is eligible for this update. Probably, LTE-capable i815 and GT-P6810 will be late to get this software update.

Primitively, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 was released on Android Honeycomb v3.2, from where it was updated to Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0 and now finally to Jelly Bean v4.1.2. Overall, this newly rolled out update would prove quite favorable for your tablet. You can enjoy a new series of specs on your tablet. If not a whole new series, better and enhanced variants of existing specs would be facilitated with a newer OS.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 models debut in May-June

May 6, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

With a sleeker design and better performance, the latest Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is much about enhanced user experience. Samsung touts its handgrip and portability features that let you hold comfortably for hours at a stretch, or carry in your pocket for use on the move. It has also strived to provide a thinner case compared to earlier versions.

With the basic design hues of the Galaxy Note 8.0, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 looks more like an oversized smartphone. The enhanced multimedia performance and user experience can be attributed to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system coupled with Samsung’s proprietary interface. You can expect better downloading speeds and faster access to videos and apps.

The tablet is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB RAM. It offers 16 GB of internal storage, plus a microSD card slot that supports up to 64 GB expansion.

The 7-inch display does not feature an IPS panel as many expected, but a TFT screen with a WSVGA resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It offers a pixel density of 169 ppi.  The display specifications are basically similar to previous models.

The device comes with a 3-megapixel rear-camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-camera. It also features an accelerometer, ambient light-sensor and a compass. Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G HSPA+, Glonass module, and 4,000 mAh Li-Ion battery.

The 111.1 x 188 x 9.9 mm device comes in two models – a Wi-Fi only model, weighing 302 grams, and Wi-Fi plus 3G model, weighing 306 grams. The former is arriving in May, while the latter will make its debut in June.

Unlike the Galaxy Tab 2, the new Tab 3 model will not have a 32 GB variant – perhaps Samsung is trying to keep the price factor favorable!
