The HTC M8 is most likely going to be the next generation version of the HTC One, unless the Taiwanese giant is preparing two flagship smartphones next year – a new report gives us all the details on internal specs coming on the HTC M8.
This report comes from AnTuTu benchmarks, who have grabbed the HTC M8 internal specs from a device in the wild. The HTC M8 does not look like a huge update from the HTC One, instead we expect a small upgrade on the internal and external side for early 2014.
The first upgrade is from the Snapdragon 600 processor to the Snapdragon 800 processor, the Snapdragon 800 comes with a faster clock speed of 2.26GHz and both are quad-core processors, this will come alongside 2GB of RAM, a little lower than the 3GB’s Samsung is currently pushing out.
It is surprising HTC has not went with the new Snapdragon 805 processor, although we may see an update before 2014 including the new SoC from Qualcomm, this could be the same issue with the upgrade on RAM, although HTC may take a conservative move to only include 2GB of RAM.
On the design front, we have already seen a photo of the HTC M8, looking almost exactly the same as the HTC One with a thinner profile. The screen will be bumped up to a 5-inch display and stick with the same 1920 x 1080 resolution, matching the Nexus 5 and Galaxy S4.
Other than these updates, we will see a larger battery inside the HTC M8 and a possible update to the camera, even though details say it is the same 4MP “Ultrapixel” sensor on the last device – perhaps HTC has done some optimisation on the software side.
Talking about software, the HTC M8 will apparently come pre-loaded with Android KitKat 4.4, not that surprising considering the phone will be available sometime between January and March 2014.
Most reports peg the HTC M8 to come at MWC in February, although the exact date is still uncertain and we have no idea what the final name will be – we doubt it is going to be the HTC One Two, like some pundits believe it could be called.
