Terminator Genisys Was Not Exactly A Big Success

Terminator Genisys Was Not Exactly A Big Success

If you are a gadget fan, you might also be into the Terminator series. We know, it’s not exactly a gadget subject, but this is a heads up to all Terminator fans out there. While Terminator Genisys was not exactly a big success, there seemed to be another two movies on the way. Skydance and Paramount had announced that a Terminator Genisys 2 is going to hit theaters in 2017, followed by the 3rd installment in 2018.

Are you excited? You should be, but not too much. Given that the first Genisys was not exacly a big success, with only a $90 million profit, Paramount thought that it might not be a good idea to release a new movie just yet, so they pushed the movie in the future, indefinitely. Dana Goldberg, the Skydance chief creative officer, confirmed that the sequel will continue, only not after they looked at the details that they missed in the first movie.

Goldberg didn’t only confirm the continuation, but she also made reference to the Terminator TV series. When asked about the subject, she confirmed that “a Terminator TV show fits… All the steps have to be taken in unison.” So it looks like Lena Headey really did pass the Sarah Connor to Emilia Clarke and we might see more of her in the movies to come.

Genisys did not have a good performance in the states at all, but it was well reacted too overseas, where it proceeded to make approximately $440 million. Obviously, Dana Goldberg was not going to voice the company’s disappointment with the movie, but she did claim that they would be moving onward based on the fans’ feedback, making sure that they have everything covered for the movies that will follow.

Paramount and Skydance are willing to move forward with baby steps, making sure that they will do all the necessary research, making sure that they understand exactly what the audience loved and hate about the movie. And while the 2017 and 2018 are far-away deadlines, Goldberg stated that they “are not going to begin production at the beginning of next year”.

Although the Terminator universe has the potential of being very large and over-exploited, it seems quite difficult to pull through. Even with the fancy machines that were crafted and the great special effects, it seems that it lacks the power to move forward. For now.
