T-Mobile US makes a move on the market to fortify its position as the largest provider of wireless prepaid services. As a result, it will adjust its prepaid rate plans. It will eliminate unlimited data offering to adjust to the needs of the consumers.
The company stated that from 25th of January the prepaid offering will change its name to Simply Prepaid (from Simple Choice). A price cut will be made to three of the rate plans it provides. Each of them will have a $10 reduction. The plan with a $50 price that included high-speed data of 1 gigabyte, unlimited messaging and unlimited voice calling will lower its price to $40. The plan with a $60 price that involves a maximum level high-speed data of 3 GB will be cut to $50. The plan that offered high-speed data of 5 GB will have a price cut from $70 to $60. The $80 plan with unlimited data access on high-speed transmission will be terminated.
The new features of T-Mobile US Simple Prepaid plan include visual voicemail, Wi-Fi calling and in-flight messaging. The customers will be charged no additional fee. The network speeds will decrease to 128 kilobits per second for the users that exceed the data bucket they paid for, and in this manner overage charges will be removed.
The Pay as You Go prepaid plans were updated last year by T-Mobile US with a 10 cents-per-minute price for a call or for a text message, without reference to what a customer contributes to the prepaid account. A minimum $3 monthly deposit was required and that granted access to 30 minutes of text messaging and voice calling. Customers can benefit of 4G LTE data passes, for a price of $5. The service will have availability of one day and up to 500 megabytes of data. A weekly availability of the service can be purchased for $10 and the customer can use up to 1 gigabyte of data.
Similar postpaid rate plans have a price higher with minimum $10 and it looks like T-Mobile set up an important advantage in contrast to its competitors. Prepaid and postpaid accounts can have different device availability, because the prepaid side can have access to an extended range of devices that are entry-level on the market. Nevertheless, the prepaid service from T-Mobile US allows any phone compatible with the network to be used.
