Even if the announcement of the Custom TV service that is currently offered by Verizon represented good news to the customers and to the company`s sales percentage as well, it seems like the the bundles offering TV service by the international telecom company has gotten Verizon sued by ESPN over custom TV service.
It has been made largely known within the forums in which both the tech experts and the tech enthusiasts share their opinion on subjects in connection to the world of technology that the ESPN sports network was not very happy about Verizon`s most recent plan of broadcasting TV. Now, it seems like the sports network started to take action against the bundles offering Custom TV service.
According to a report by CNBC, ESPN sued Verizon over breaking the contract stipulations allegedly.
The lawsuit has been filed on Monday by ESPN to the New York Supreme Court. The sports network mentioned that they have identified some damages to the service. The Custom TV allows FiOS customers of Verizon to choose a pack of TV channels that they really want to watch and pay for, instead of forcing them to pay for more than 300 channels that the customers would seldom or never watch.
By doing so, ESPN claimed that the international telecom company violates the contract between the two and is responsible for an unfair depriving of benefits to the sports network, as they have been stipulated in the contracts, according to CNBC.
Officials talking on behalf of the sports network ESPN have released a statement in which they have commented on the situation. They have affirmed that the current agreement between the two parts is violated by the release of the Custom TV service by Verizon.
“ESPN is at the forefront of embracing innovative ways to deliver high-quality content and value to consumers on multiple platforms, but that must be done in compliance with our agreements,”
said the sports network.
ESPN has added that they are simply requiring actions by Verizon that do not interfere or contradict the terms of agreement between the two parts.
On the other hand, Verizon claims that the new FiOS feature that they have recently released is not in contradiction to any currently functioning papers.
The telecom company as emphasized that the customers are the ones related to whom such a business should evolve. Verizon claims that the clients have made their wishes public numerous times and that it is their duty to give the customers what they want.
