Many BlackBerry customers on the Vodafone network have suffered outages.
This is the second outage in 4 months. BlackBerry service is facing some
problems in the Middle East, Europe and Africa. Many BlackBerry customers
have been unable to access data services on their phones.
The failure on Vodafone network has occurred ahead of BlackBerry 10’s launch.
Many BlackBerry customers are not able to communicate via messaging and are
not able to get their emails. Vodafone is now working furiously to sort out the
issue as fast as possible.
With only a couple of weeks for the launch of much awaited BlackBerry 10,
Vodafone is all the more anxious. After all, the Canadian smartphone maker will
offer the next-generation platform on a bevy of networks. The geographic amount
of the probelms is still not very clear. However, many African states and European
countries have been affected.
This is not the first time an outage has been suffered on the Vodafone network.
Vodafone is one of the very few networks that is based in U.K. to offer such
services. Roughly about 6% of BlackBerry users were affected. They were unable
to send or receive messages. But it is still not clear if the problems were the fault
of the phone itself or Vodafone’s.
Research in Motion did comment that most BlackBerry services are running
normally but some customers in Middle East, Africa and Europe are facing
problems. They are helping Vodafone to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
According to Vodafone, the system is being repaired and the services should be
back to normal soon.
Vodafone confirmed that the data services of these customers were experiencing
some issues. The problem was caused due to a router error. Vodafone officials are
monitoring the situation closely and apologized to their customers for any hassles.
