We all use the YouTube application on our smartphones and tablets. No matter if you use it in order to listen to music or watch funny videos; this new feature is going to be great. YouTube just announced that they are going to add a new gesture that is going to help us jump forward or backward.
The double tap gesture that is added by the latest YouTube update is going to make it possible for users to skip videos forward by ten seconds or return to a part of the video that they like. This new feature helps users jump forward or backward by just tapping the screen.
This update is available for the YouTube App for Android smartphones and tablets. Despite the fact that this double tap gesture was developed in December, it was enabled with this new updates that launched yesterday.
Although it might not seem like a great new feature this double tap gesture makes it easier for users to navigate on YouTube. Another great thing is that you can double tap several times if you want to get skip forward more than 10 seconds. For instance, if you want to skip forward by 30 seconds you just have to tap the screen 6 times.
The app is going to register how many times you tapped the screen and in which direction. This is also available for the rewind. You double tap the screen for how many times you want to rewind.
Another interesting thing is that you can correct the mistake if you pressed by accident or if you pressed in the wrong direction. All you have to do is use the double tap gesture in the opposite direction. This way the video is going to get back to the part it was before you made the move.
This update is going to be available starting Monday. The update will roll out worldwide in the next few days. If you are interested in testing this double tap gesture you should see whether or not the YouTube app is up to date.
