Google is keeping up with both its Doodle and its Halloween traditions by coming with a new, 2017 Halloween Doodle that continues last year’s tale.
In a blog post, the creative minds behind this year’s cute video state that: “In keeping with Halloween Doodle Tradition, the team felt it was time to follow the tales of Momo and the Candy Cup Witches with the Ghost’s side of the story.”
The 2017 Halloween Doodle, Or How Being Yourself is Always the Best Option, Even for Halloween
In 2016, Google’s Halloween Doodle had Momo, a freshman at the Magic Cat Academy as she is trying to save her school of magic from the clutches of a ghost invasion.
This year, the Doodle shows us Jinx’s perspective, a lonely ghost that is just trying to fit in and join the others. The video starts with a sad Jinx looking out the window as the others are trick-or-treating and having fun.
As it does so, it decides to find the perfect costume and join the others, decision marked by its sticking a picture of a ghost being jolly with its friends over that of its mischievous ghost relatives.
In the blog post, the creative team behind the 2017 Halloween Doodle points out that it took time and a ‘little hocus pocus’ to craft such a ‘bewitching storyline’.
Each sequence of the video is said to have its own color scheme. Also, Google teases its viewers that only the sharp-eyed can see the “devilish details” the team inserted in them.
The black and white storyboards, as well as the Animatic Costume Sequence and the Colorscript for the short clip, are also included in the post.
Google’s Doodle team ends this with “Don’t be afraid to show who you really are or let superstition get in the way of a new friendship and you’ll be a graveyard smash. “
Albeit a bit of a spoiler for the end of the video, this is nonetheless the perfect description for the story behind this latest feel-good, cute Halloween Doodle.
