The new leak shows the Huawei G750, an unannounced device sporting a 5.5-inch 720p display and running the first true octa-core processor from MediaTek, alongside 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
This is a rather bland feature set apart from the octa-core processor and it is surprising Huawei has not added a 1080p display. We have no clues on the battery size, LTE, NFC and other possible features on the smartphone.
The feature set on the G750 makes us believe it is the unannounced Glory 4, as it shares many of the same features and looks similar to previous images of the Glory 4. The phone will be running Android 4.2 at launch alongside Huawei’s odd Emotions UI, a little disappointing considering Android 4.4 is now available.
MediaTek’s octa-core processor is the first true chip to run all eight cores at the same time and at the same speed. The trick with Samsung’s “octa-core” processor is it ran four cores at a higher clock speed and the other four at a lower clock speed, running the faster for intense tasks that need extra power.
We still do not see the major push to octa-core processors being needed, most tasks still run fine on dual-core and only a few apps and features need quad-core power. This is the same with the 3GB of RAM move, considering Google has now implemented features to make sure the OS can run on 512MB of RAM, it is quite pointless and just ramps up the cost.
