A new teaser trailer shows a bunch of customers, beta testers and developers getting all worked up (in a good way) in the presence of a device which is not visible on the screen. But let’s face it, we all know it’s the Amazon 3D smartphone in that picture, even if it still keeps its anonymity to build up the suspense.
Traditionally, in order to be able to “see in 3D”, you should have some glasses or a hi-tech headset. But as we said before, Amazon doesn’t just want a piece of the pie of the tech market share, it wants to take the whole cake. The trailer shows people swaying side to side in a behavior that strongly suggests that the phone will indeed sport the ability to use a revolutionary eye – tracking technology in order to create 3D images without any use of glasses, but with the help of four cameras (or five, depending on what source you consult)
According to tech specialists interested in the subject,
Using this tech, users may be able to see everything from wallpapers to street maps in 3D, with each application changing based on the viewer’s perspective. Those same sensors will reportedly allow for tilt gestures, which will enable users to navigate between apps and menus by simply moving the phone in different directions.
But how does it feel to stare at a 3D phone all day long and get the feeling you are living in some Inception – inspired movie? It can make you dizzy, that’s for sure, and it can stress your eyes and your overall sight health. This is why experts presume that Amazon will unveil two types of smartphones, a 3D one and a non – 3D one.
If we take into account that glasses – free 3D tech has never been applied to a smartphone before, it is easy to understand why Amazon is preparing the unveiling event with so much generosity. Usually, this types of events welcome a few chosen ones to be there. This time, Amazon is inviting everybody who wants to see the miracle with their own eyes. There is a registration option on the Amazon website and a form to be completed, so everybody, from customers, to developers, to journalists and competition representatives can fill it in and hope to get selected.
When is the Amazon 3D smartphone going to be unveiled? The open invitation says June 18. It’s not much time until then and everybody is curious about how Jeff Bezos is going to shake the very foundations of the tech world. While the company looks confident in its success, we just hope this isn’t too much ado about nothing.
