Is the Amazon Smart TV an important challenger for Google and Apple solutions?
By now, specialists seem to agree that Amazon will release two different products, a a simple streaming device, much like Google’s Chromecast, and a more complex one, in the shape of a set-top box, much like Apple’s TV, and give their customers the freedom of choosing between the two, according to their needs. But what leverage has Amazon in this case? Think about it this way: the set – top box will be able to allow customers to directly access Amazon’s immense database of movies on demand, TV shows and music, but it will also grant them the possibility to access Netflix. And if this wasn’t enough leverage for you, according to a deep analysis put together by TechCrunch, gamers will have a lot to benefit from Amazon’s set – top box, as the device may allow them not only to access and run smartphone and tablet – based games, but also full PC and Mac games too. According to the TechCrunch report,
Offering streaming gaming would provide a huge competitive advantage over its rivals in the set top box space, both large and small […] Plus, if added in as an Amazon Prime member benefit, the e-commerce company could have yet another incentive to get users on board with its premium product.
There is little time left until the big unveiling, but if the predictions are correct, we will have another player in the market. And since we all know Amazon only rolls high bets, the game looks like a very interesting one.
