This week, Apple executives had surprised all Apple fans with their announcement when they said that the company has been working on Apple iMac, a high-end Mac Pro, and it was scheduled to be released sometime soon, but not this year. The new Mac would be an entirely re-edited and upgrade version. Unfortunately, developers did not share any details regarding the release date.
The new Apple iMac high-end desktop is still work in progress
Nevertheless, Thom Holwerda from OSnews has offered fans some info, estimating the release date based on some rumors he has heard. He also said he has some data regarding how Apple decided to launch a revamped Apple iMac, focusing on professional users. Holwerda claims that before Apple made the announcement, Mac Pro was entirely neglected. This is why Apple did not know for sure what will happen to their device.
However, Apple believes that the negative response which they received from users regarding the MacBook Pro equipped with Touch Bar represented a major factor. The MacBook Pro with Touch Bar was said not to be oriented towards pro users, and Apple received many complaints about this product. Apple noticed that there was an increase in the number of orders for their older MacBook Pros than the new models which were introduced.
Rumor has it that the new computer might be ready in 2019
This observation put together with the negativity received from pro users, and the reaction to the LG 5K display determined Apple to decrease the number of gadgets for professional users. Rumor has it that Apple’s decision to start developing a modular Mac Pro occurred a few months ago and the developmental process started a few weeks ago. Those who fancy Apple products should know that they have to wait for a long time.
If we were to think at a rough estimate of the time span a company needs to develop a gadget, the new Apple iMac might be ready until 2018 or 2019. Holwerda stated that he believes that Apple is not only working to develop a new computer but also a new MacBook Pro, this time, without the Touch Bar. Probably, the new MacBook Pro will feature characteristics suitable for professional users, like pairing the Mac with an iPad Pro to use it as a Cintiq-style drawing tablet.
Apple did not reveal too much data about the new Mac Pro, but this time hopes that their device will benefit all pro users, even featuring virtual reality software.
