Market watchers are making new predictions about the iPad 5 launch after it missed the 2013 WWDC on June 10th. Latest presumption is that the device will launch next week to compete with Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which is expected to show up at the June 20th Samsung Premier event in London.
It appears that Apple planned to launch the iPad 5 a week after announcing its iOS 7. On Samsung’s side, some of the devices expected on June 20th namely, the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Active, saw their official reveal without much glitz. The few devices that have yet to launch, such as the Galaxy Camera 2 and Galaxy Note 3, are hotly anticipated on June 20th. Initially, the Galaxy Note 3 was slated for a September release at the Berlin IFA event.
The iPad 5 is expected to come with quite a few innovations, such as a 9.7-inch Retina display, 2048 x 1536 screen-resolution, next gen A7 processor, upgraded RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 16GB/32GB/64GB storage options and 4G LTE capability. The Galaxy Note 3 is likely to feature a 6.3-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, microSD slot, 3GB RAM, and a new Exynos 5420 processor. It is supposed to come with an advanced 13MP camera with optical image stabilization capability.
The most rumored feature of the iPad 5 is its sleeker form factor rendered by Sharp’s IGZO screen technology and minimal bezel design. With a slimmer glass – just 0.22mm thick – the sleek device is supposed to be 33 percent lighter than the iPad 4. Based on rumored specs, case-maker Gumdrop is already selling cases of the next gen iPad.
Either device has its own unique specs and has loyal fans waiting in anticipation. The market impact of their simultaneous launch however, remains to be seen.
