Asus wants to bring back all that with their new Asus Chromebox. At $180, this is among the cheapest desktop computers on the market right now and it’s also the smallest: 1.7 inch tall square slab and 4.9 inches on its side. You could say that at this size Asus Chromebox is not bigger than its power source.
The dimensions and the price apply only for the computer itself. You still need to get a monitor, a keyboard and a mouse. The great thing about the new Asus Chromebox is that it doesn’t run on Mac OS X or Windows. It’s meant exclusively for online activities and it’s like the desktop version of Google’s Chromebook laptop. It means that Asus Chromebox can’t run programs like Microsoft Office or Photoshop, but maybe that’s for the best. You can very well check your emails, watch movies with Netflix, use Facebook, share photos, listen to music, etc. You can also use Google’s online products.
Asus Chromebox – other features
Other great feature about the Asus Chromebox is that it’s very secure (it doesn’t catch viruses) and don’t forget, very inexpensive. It’s a very silent computer, great for kids and their schoolwork, kitchen lookups. It has many coonectors like USB jacks, HDMI jacks, a DisplayPort for monitors or projectors, Ethernet jack, a Wi-Fi and a camera memory card slot. It has 16 GB of storage plus 100 GB extra from Google.
There is a faster version of Asus Chromebox coming in April that costs 370 dollars, plus a mouse and keyboard package for only $50.
