The Bastion buff of Overwatch went live this week. Unfortunately, gamers seemed very disappointed because of all the changes and felt like they should express their opinion. Thus, Jeff Kaplan, the director of the game argued that he will roll back Bastion buff. Nevertheless, the real question was whether player managed to develop feasible strategies to combat the monster.
On February 28, Bastion got a massive boost after it was tested for a few weeks. This represents a defense hero who needs coordination to counter. However, in recon mode, the hero can heal on the go even if his bullet spread is narrower compared to its magazine size. When players switch to sentry mode, it takes less time for them to do it and the size of Bastion’s magazine is larger, having greater bullet spread.
What is more, now Bastion is ironclad, taking less damage than 35% in tank or sentry mode. Bastion developed into a deadly, durable and more flexible character. Now that the hero got this incredible boost, he can survive to ultimate attacks. He either heals immediately or moves very fast out of the way. Bastion can destroy Reinhardt’s shield in a split second. Moreover, a Mercy-Reinhardt-Bastion triad represents a fierce adversary.
After the buff, Bastion transformed into a necessary pick that Overwatch fans attribute to its apparent violation for balance. Overwatch gamers promised that they would quit if Bastion is nerved. Players named the boost of this hero to be “unkillable.” Some players believe it is the worst that ever could happen to Overwatch. Nevertheless, at two days after the buff, it does not mean that all the players learned how to face the hero and develop the best methods to fight him.
Kaplan argued that it is normal for players to have a hard time killing the mighty hero. These balance changes that occur may appear to be tough to make when the community of players is so united. If a hero does not get chosen to play a lot, Symmetra or Bastion, it becomes outrageous. Kaplan explained that they implement changes to make those heroes more viable.
The main idea is that players need to get used to fighting against Bastion and Symmetra more even if they are more powerful.
