Blackberry is reported to be working on a new update of its BB10 operating system. The update which will bump up the software build to 10.2.0.483 was first leaked by the forum site Crackberry. Needless to say, the update will bring along several new features to the platform along with the usual dose of bug fixes and performance enhancement stuff. All of the above is fast assuming significant important in the mobile devices segment as apart from the rivalries between companies, the mobile segment is fast emerging as the battleground of the operating system these devices are based on.
Not surprisingly details of the new update are in short supply right now though it’s not exactly a barren land here. Among the new features to be expected include an enhanced notification area that now supports quite a few actions. Post the update, users will be able to accomplish several tasks right from within the notification area itself. This includes replying to e-mails, BBM or other message systems from the notification area, which otherwise would have taken quite a few more tabs to accomplish.
The update will also enable users to view the notifications from the lock screen itself or to mute notifications, the latter being quite a handy feature if you find that to be too intrusive. This feature can also be invoked such as when you are attending a meeting. Other features to look forward to in the new update include Wi-Fi direct support as well as the inclusion of native Evernote app which will bring along with it features as is available in other platforms.
As for the target devices, it is the full touchscreen based Z10, and the QWERTY keypad based Q10 and the Q5 that will be getting the update soon. However, what is not known right now is when the update will be released or which of the handsets will be first off the block to get the new update.
