Talk about BlackBerry coming out with apps that would enable the BBM apps to be run on Android and iPhone devices has been doing the rounds. There have even been dates specified for the release of their apps. CEO of Blackberry Throsten Hiens has during a Blackberry live event mentioned that the development of these apps is in progress and that the earliest dates of their availability would be September end. This is the last known fact and all other rumors or talks we find on the net are to be ignored.
At the event, the CEO also clarified that the minimum Android version needed for running BBM apps would have to be Ice Cream Sandwich and the same for Apple devices such as the iPhone, it would need to be iOS6 and later versions. The messenger service that would make this cross platform capable application a super hit would come in steps. The voice feature and other such features we get to have on the BlackBerry would be available as updates in stages.
Users could be expected to be charged by BlackBerry for using this app on their devices though there have also been reports of the app being made available for free. We are still into the middle of summer which means, the app is on track for a delivery towards end summer as has been promised.
