Call of Duty will return to its roots. Last week, Call of Duty: WWII was announced by Sledgehammer Games and Activision. A new game from the series will soon be launched, continuing the global conflict from the start of the series in 2003. In the past few years, many people have criticized this series because they have increasingly used Sci-Fi trappings and fancy settings.
The new Call of Duty: World War II will be fully revealed on April 26
The game reached a point where developers needed to do something with interplanetary combat which unfolded in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare last year. Thus, the franchise decided to go back to something more interesting, linked to real facts. The full reveal of the game is bound to appear on April 26. Unfortunately, developers did not indicate too many details about the game.
If the leaks which appeared really unveiled true information, then the new Call of Duty will use the series’ preference for massive set pieces which has a D-Day landing at Normandy Beach. Gamers might be excited to hear that the new game might bring a co-op campaign which does not involve zombies, but it may bring a multiplayer version. This might be considered to be a step back from what gamers were used to when jumping superpowerful combatants were employed in recent entries.
When playing the new game, players may recall Call of Duty: World at War
The new Call of Duty: World War II is a franchise. However, many reached to know it due to the incredible popularity that followed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2007. Probably, the World War II setting may be relatively new. If we were to look back at other games from the series, we would remember that the last time the franchise used this material was about ten years ago when launching World at War.
This game was underestimated by many people, but people did not talk too much about since it was not that popular for its setting or gameplay. Most likely, many Call of Duty fans did not even play that game immediately after it was launched because they were all kids. Thus, the new World War II has as a purpose reestablishing some of the features from World at War, taking advantage of nostalgia for some while it brings novelty for other players.
