Shipping more than 200 million units last year, China sure has become the biggest
manufacturer of smartphones in the world. More then 730,000 Chinese apps were
launched on iPod, iPad, Touch. The mobile Internet market in china is all set to
reach 429.6 billion yuan by 2015.
Another 50.9 million Internet users got added in China last year, according to a
recent data released. The mobile phones have become the primary channel for
surfing the web in the country.
Chinese electronics companies are already persuading local consumers to forget
about the iPhone and look for smartphones. The new line of smartphones and
other mobile gadgets are growing awareness that there is some cool stuff available
beside the iphone.
Domestic shipments has risen as high as 180 % last year and the boost is expected
to reach 268 million this year too and touch 377 million by 2016. Chinese brands
such as Coolpad, Lenovo, ZTE and TCL are making those phones. The quality of
Chinese-made phones is getting superior and the pace of upgrade cycle in China is
really impressive.
According to research firm Canalys, the market for smartphone is twice as large
as the U.S. market in China. While the shipments to the U.S. market are only 125
million, it will be nearly 240 million units in 2013, in China. The breach between
the two countries is fairly large.
The nation saw more customers looking for reasonably priced smartphones, Local
handset makers are already conscious of the trend and are already switching to
releasing low-cost Android. Earlier, the markets in US and China were almost the
same but there were 100 million more smartphones in China than the year before.
In addition to well known foreign companies such as Samsung,, Apple and HTC,
there are about 100 domestic smartphone vendors in China. More than 70 percent
of all smartphone sales are made by the local brands.
