Slack and Google Drive have teamed up together to allow all members of a Slack channel to extend their permission on file. Slack, the team communication innovation, has always been more than a chat app. Slack considers its software to be the ground stone which lies at the foundation of workplace productivity, being the most significant tool in many services and products used by customers on a daily basis.
Now, Slack is planning to establish a collaboration, being integrated into Google Drive. Its app will prove to more useful to complete tasks without changing from an app window to another. This new partnership will start being productive in 2017 when Google will grant Slack members extended permission to a file shared among the members of the channel.
Basically, instead of manually selecting who can access a file, Slack will do this for its users. Another advantage would be that you will have access to more detailed previews of the content of a file, irrespective if it’s a spreadsheet or a document.
As we all know how valuable time is, Slack and Google Drive will try to save you up some time by implementing a robot meant to take on your notification duties by using Gmail. The app will always inform you about changes to a file or any edits.
You will have to choose between rejecting, approving or resolving changes and comments to a particular file by using buttons implemented in the message thread of the bot. Regarding organization, Slack is facilitating the Google Drive’s merged accounts for teams which use individual Slack channels. Thus, if users make changes in one field, for example, live updates or newly uploaded files, they will all reflect on the other.
The most accurate level of third-party integrations of Slack is extremely visible when connecting with Google. This type of integrations perfectly illustrates Slack’s plans to develop a better service to satisfy its customers, not by totally transforming the basic app to fulfill users’ needs, but by allowing other big companies like Google implement their features into Slack.
Nevertheless, there appears to be another reason for Slack to wish to work with Google. The company had a public conflict with Microsoft which had recently developed a competitor for Slack called Microsoft Teams. As we all know, for Microsoft, Google represent a threat, being a much more of a competitor compared to Slack.
