The creators of Darwin Project, another game of the highly popular Battle Royale type, have a surprise for the players. In an attempt to solve some of the issues associated with the title, they released the game for free on Steam. This is also an attempt to bring new players in the game, as a free to play title might be more appealing for them.
Darwin Project is on the quest for more players
Simon Darveau, the head of the creative department for Darwin Project, talked about the issues reported by the players. Before they could start a match, they need to queue to get a place in the respective game. Given the small number of players, they have to spend a lot of time waiting to finally play the game.
Also, these players are not enough to fill all the servers, so you could wait for a long time to get a place in the match, and then find out you have no one to play with. This called for an immediate intervention that could increase the number of players in a short period of time.
Therefore, the creators decided it was time for Darwin Project to become free to play. From now on, you will be able to find the Battle Royale game for free on Steam. However, there are still many players who have already paid for it. The studio won’t forget them, and has prepared a few surprises.
The creators assure everyone the game will still be fair for everyone
If you have already paid $15, or £11.39, you will get some sort of compensation. This compensation consists of some exclusive in-game elements. These include five fan goodies, an entire collection of jumpsuits, and some legendary items, like bows, axes, and sets.
Some people might get worried about Darwin Project going free. In fact, you might wonder if it will be completely free from now on. To this, Darveau felt the need to intervene. He assured players they would never sell any special items to players that might give them a certain advantage over others. Therefore, everything will be fair-play from now on.
