Facebook is getting ready for some new and exciting things. Just last week we saw how Facebook is planning to begin testing drones that will give internet to hard-to-reach areas. Today, something else has caught the attention of the internet: the Ello social network is gaining so much popularity, that some people believe it could very well replace Facebook in a couple of years.
The new social network is called Ello and it is threatening to steal Facebook’s customers as soon as possible. People are starting to become very unhappy with Facebook and their flagrant profiteering.
David Gerzof Richard, president of BigFish Communications had this to say about Ello:
Already, I’m hearing that people like the platform. It has an artistic feel that’s appealing to people, whereas Facebook is seen as a coloring book where you have to stay between the lines.
Richard is right, Ello looks very fancy, yet minimalistic and very clean. After reading the Ello manifesto, we found out that they want to keep the Ello social network an ad-free place, where people can celebrate life without having their personal information taken from them. Ello is completely against taking anything away from its users, claiming that people are not a product.
It sounds quite interesting and if Ello can gather enough momentum, it can have a fighting chance against Facebook. The Ello social network is currently in Beta and you can join by invitation only. If you’re in a hurry to join the website, you can add your email to the site and maybe you’re lucky enough to get an invitation by a member. Some reports are saying that Ello is receiving around 35,000 requests per hour.
Are you getting sick of Facebook? Are you bothered by the fact that your information is given to companies? Are you thinking of switching to another social media site? Ello social network could be the thing for you! Drop us a line in the comment section below and tell us your thoughts about this news.
